Former Vipers Zaba & Magowan Leave Capitals:

Former Vernon Vipers forward Kenny Magowan & former Vernon Vipers goaltender Matt Zaba have left the Erste Bank Hockey League (EBHL) Vienna Capitals.  The Capitals are an Austrian professional ice hockey club that play in Vienna, Austria.  Zaba is rehabbing an injury and didn't think he'd be healthy to start the 2015-16 season so left the team, while no official word on why Magowan left the team.

Zaba spent the past three seasons in Austria with the Capitals.  After four years at Colorado College Zaba went on to play three seasons in the American Hockey League, East Coast Hockey League & National Hockey League playing with four different teams (Charlotte, Idaho, Hartford & New York Rangers).  Zaba has spent the past five years playing in Austria & Italy with (Vienna & Bolzano HC). 

Zaba played one season in Vernon (2002-03) after coming over in a trade with the Penticton Panthers.  On September 6th 2002 the Panthers traded Zaba to the Vipers for Thomas Veilleux & Nick Binder.  Zaba went 34-9 during the regular season picking up two shutouts and a 2.21 GAA.  Zaba was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings In round 8, 231 overall at the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Zaba made his NHL debut on January 23, 2010 with the New York Rangers vs the Montreal Canadiens.

Magowan played last season with two clubs (Frankfurt Lions & Vienna Capitals).  Magowan started last year with the DEL Frankfurt Lions before leaving the team in January.  The Lions are a professional men's ice hockey club from Frankfurt, Germany that play in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga hockey league. The Lions signed Magowan October 22nd 2014. Magowan played in 17 games picked up (9-goals-8-assists-17-points).  The Capitals signed Magowan to a three day tryout on February 9th 2015.  In 10 games with the Capitals Magowan collected (2-goals-2-assists-4-points).

Magowan spent three seasons (2004-2007) playing in the East Coast Hockey League & American Hockey League with six different teams (Albany, Augusta, Toledo, Philadelphia, Rochester & Bridgeport) before playing the last eight seasons in Germany with four different teams (SC Riessersee, Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg, Adler Mannheim & Lowen Frankfurt).

Magowan played two seasons in Vernon (1998-2000) played in 118 games with the Vipers collecting (46-goals-62-assists-108-points). Magowan was drafted by the New Jersey Devils 198th overall in Round 7 at the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Vienna Capitals separate from Zaba, Magowan and Naglich

The 31-year-old Canadian graduated from 151 plays for the UPC Vienna Capitals. After the seasonal end an injury forced him to an operation. Weakly Zaba: „ How many maybe already knew, I had to undergo immediately after the seasonal end of a hip operation. Because of this intervention it is not possible to me to estimate whether I was totally fit up to the seasonal start again “.

The goalkeeper's era of Zaba with the Caps was a successful one: It became two times vice master, in his first season 2012/13 he was league-far the best goalkeeper in the expressive countergate statistics. „ I white to estimate what the association has done for me.
