Sound Tigers Sign Vipers Alumni Nowick:

The American Hockey League Bridgeport Sound Tigers have
signed former Vernon Vipers forward Darren Nowick.

Nowick will join former Vernon Vipers forwards-twins Connor & Kellen Jones who also play with the Sound Tigers.

Nowick started the season with the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Missouri Mavericks before signing with Bridgeport.

After playing four years at Northern Michigan University Nowick signed his first professional contract with the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Missouri Mavericks March 16 2016.

Nowick played two years in Vernon (2010-2012) played in 109 games with the Vipers collected (36-goals-50-assists-86-points).

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today forward Darren Nowick has agreed to terms on a professional tryout (PTO).

Nowick, 25, recorded 45 points (21 goals, 24 assists) and a plus-26 rating in 57 games with the Sound Tigers’ ECHL affiliate, the Missouri Mavericks, this season. The rookie center is second on the Mavericks in scoring and has points in five of his last seven games.

A native of Long Beach, Calif., Nowick made his professional debut with the Mavericks near the end of last season, logging seven points (two goals, five assists) in 13 contests following a four-year career at Northern Michigan University. He set career highs in goals (14), assists (18) and points (32) as a senior last season, improving his collegiate total to 75 points (34 goals, 41 assists) in 140 games with the Wildcats.

Prior to attending Northern Michigan, Nowick played two seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) with the Vernon Vipers. The 5’10, 185-pound forward notched 86 points (36 goals, 50 assists) in 109 games and helped Vernon capture the 2011 BCHL Championship.
